Thanks to Hans Meier of Gwinett Woodworkers for the 3D scroll saw tips on his RUclips video. Actually, scroll sawing never really appealed to me, and I thought it to be more of a novelty tool instead of a "real woodworker's tool". LOL Then I found the Gwinett Woodworkers channel and watched the creation of scroll saw-inlaid & turned Christmas ornaments. Two weeks later, (About a month ago) I pu...

The pair of red-tailed hawks that hatched this spring have left the nest and are learning to forage for themselves as they acquire hunting skills. Update: Sorry - I think these may be red-shouldered hawks.

Rick's Alaska Motorcycle Trip - P1 of 7
Got back from cabot trail in cape breton quite lovely indeed, But I know one place I'd rather be. That would be in the northern italian alps, Going south towards sicily and sardania. I'm born and raised in canada. But let's face it. It's hard to beat europe, especially italy.
What a ride, dude. Thanks for posting so all can see. I've always wanted to do this, am 71 and ride all the time, but the mud is extreme. The views of waterfalls, rivers, glaciers, animals and towns are fantastic. The everchanging weather will definitely test you in every way. You're a tough man. Thanks again.
Most Eastern part ? What about GreenLand ?
Sorry, dude, but NO WAY would I be feeling anything even remotely resembling "relaxed" if I were camping in a tent on the ground and someone left a note about a grizzle bear being sighted in the area. I love camping, but most of my camping is done in deserts where the only thing one need worry about is a snake that is kind enough to let you know it sees you and doesn't approve of your approach. That being said, love your Alaska videos and you are motivating me to consider such a trip, but I think I'll take my rooftop tent and my 4Runner for that trip. I particularly like your videos because of your bike, which is identical to mine. As most bike tourers seem to be riding the latest dual-purpose bikes, it's nice to see what touring would be like on mine to learn about the unforeseen pitfalls that might be avoidable with knowledge as I'm now retired and looking for things to do. Thanks.
That trip certainly sounds like NO FUN! Why would anyone want to subject themselves to such a grueling test for no apparent reason? I'm planning this same trip from Florida to the west coast on the old highway 90 to relive a 1963 family trip we took, but will definitely be taking my time in doing it...also on a 2003 Kawasaki Concours. That being said, really enjoyed the video and found those two coyotes you encountered unbelievably approachable. I've seen many coyotes in my travels, but never saw a couple that just stood there and watched me pass by. They usually trot away, so I found that particular encounter of yours very interesting and sweet.
Bought a 2006 concours new sold it years ago just bought another same year from kaplan cycles only semi retired now zero bills alot more free time to ride
I rewatch Rick’s videos all the time. Awesome videos on an awesome motorcycle
Man, this is the Most ive seen of Newfounland, and i live next door..... Awesome lil Villages......
Cool Tune.......ha
Do u find they run a bit warm, especially in mid/late summer... My fan usually comes on just b4 the Halfway Mark... If im putting thru traffic, or slowly driving thru the local camp ground, it'll warm up quick & the fan comes on...
Haa, im in New Brunswick...
Watched this before but really enjoy the scenery and do enjoy the twisty roads on the bike.
Really enjoyed your use of local music. It really set the mood. BTW, check out the music of Joan Morrissey, it is very humorous Newfy music.
Dude, from Jacksonville to San Diego...., you were in the zone.
I just stumble onto this video and I really enjoyed it. We take yearly cross country motorcycle trips and I can relate to what poor planning can lead to -lol. Great Job with this video, southern Utah is my wifes favorite part of the country to ride thru. Great music selection, imo. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I made to Gettysburg on a dog chew toy ,tie wraps and a hacksaw blade
best one I've ever seen
You seem to have adjustable wind screen😊. I dont like original wind screen in mine. Pushes all wind to face. Today I fell in sauna now I have broken bones. I am lyuing in hospital waiting for summer and my kawasaki😅
Hi, Eric - sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you can heal quickly!
Hey Rick 😊 First time viewer and thanks so much for sharing your amazing adventure 👏
Fantastic Trip great video thank you How do yo do the Map travel icon ??????
Very nice, very well done.
Thanks for videoing your trip. I did it with a KLR in 2008. A lot of things I can pick out.
Rick I thank God I bumped into your video, I love adventure but your zeal is on onother level, you made me feel like am in Labrador and newfoundland physically through your tour. Love your perseverance through the rough roads and unkind weather. Good job sir. ❤
You're one groovy cat. Love your awesome videos. The kaw is amazing.
Very well produced. I think you should of put the Bonanza theme in at Tahoe! lol
That chair took some heavy Scroggin! lol
Great ride, and a wonderful trip. I rode my '97 Connie for 14 years. I loved that bike. You have some pretty incredible time on your hands!
Yes, we're still watching and enjoying your ride report. Thank you for posting!
It is my dream to travel whole Canada on bike..
Nice vids keep up the great trips am heading to NFLD in mid June for the fourth time heading to st Anthony then back track to red bay Labrador then back to the rock and boat back to home in nova Scotia.
Thanks! My first solo bike trip was in 2008 when I visited the Cabot Trail. ruclips.net/video/lj5jFpBBuug/видео.html
How was the ferry ride from Nova Scotia to NFLD? Smooth?
Very smooth.
Man , what a trip ! I would be hoping for a Uhaul for the trip back 😅
Awesome video Rick and hats off to you! I am from Quebec and I really admire your tenacity through all the bad roads here, the moskitos and black flies plus the bad weather, quite an achievement! Congrats for this great video! 👏👏👍
Dude, I think your trip inspired me and my Dad. Me and him drove all the way from Long Island, NY all the way to Riverside, WY. We stopped at various KOAs along the way including in Nebraska in the corn fields and majority of the nice one in Colorado. We did all of this on the back of the bike as well for 3 weeks riding, exploring and enjoying the view, and y'know what? It's the best trip I ever had in my entire life and like my Dad said, a trip on a bike is FAR different than a trip in a car or truck.
That's Awesome!! Great respect for the two of you. So many people talk about a grand trip like that, but few actually follow through with it. Those memories will stick with you the rest of your life and the stories will be passed down to the next generation.
Nicely done. And I like your choice off appropriately Celtic and humorous music ("Knock it off, Willie...") I won't get to so many places so rely on such folks as you. Thanks!
Great video. The music to match the region passed through puts this a notch above! Well done. Enjoyed it a lot.
Great video!! I'm headed to Newfoundland this summer Starting in Western Missouri
Hey Rick you are a brave man to drive from Red Bay, NL to Goose NL 😮 on all dirt roads. Hey it’s all pave now from Red Bay to Goose Bay,NL, it’s a nice drive now across Labrador.
Watched again on the last day of 2022. Still a great bit of video Rick. Thank you for the journey and inspiration.
Had not watched the series in a couple of years. Looking forward to doing it again. It inspired me to make the trip at 66. Now at 71 I'd like to do it but....
Man I just stumbled on your channel and I sure am enjoying watching your cross country and Alaska trips! I sure wish you were still posting trips! I noticed you haven't posted in a couple years if you see this, message me back and let me know how things are going if you don't mind. Best regards, mark
Hi, Mark. All is well here. Finished the big 3 trips, sold the bike, bought a UTV and I've been riding mountain trails.
Great video…what are you riding?
What a trip, beautiful 👍😎🇫🇷
gotta watch that hogweed man
Talk to us, tell us where you and what we are seeing--
What was your furthest distance between gas stops? The ET hwy looks pretty desolate !
I think the longest stretch was from Alamo to Tonopah. I spent the night in Rachel, but there’s no gas there. That’s only about 165 miles, but I had to make sure I stopped in Alamo after leaving Las Vegas.
very cool! crazy long hual.. got myself a '03 connie.. was hoping to got from toronto to seven lakes, NC.. any suggests routes or touristy spots? cheers
I would highly recommend riding Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway at least as far as Roanoke Virginia. Outstanding scenery, zero commercial traffic and no stop signs no traffic lights.
10/10 for effort there. I did this is 2011 with my wife on the back but the conditions were better. I arrived in Fairbanks knackered, but the weather forecast for the next five days was ok so I took the plunge. It paid off as I made it to Deadhorse and the Prudhoe Bay Hotel - appropriate as I live three miles from Prudhoe in the UK. The bay was named after the Baron of Prudhoe who was a friend of Franklin of the expedition fame.
Hi Ricky, what date was your trip ? Saludos desde Sinaloa México
Redo video with new music.
